Jack Wright

May 22, 1934 — June 15, 2026

Jack Wright, a beloved educator, devoted family man, and lifelong artist, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, at the age of 92, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born on May 22, 1934, in the serene town of Tigerton, Wisconsin, Jack's life was a testament to love, commitment, and unwavering kindness. Jack was the cherished son of John and Mae Wright, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. Though preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Tom and James Wright, their spirit and teachings lived on through Jack's actions and life choices. In 1958, Jack married the love of his life, Kathryn Sorson, and together they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and deep affection. Their union, which began on August 16, 1958, was a remarkable journey that was blessed with two daughters, Barbra (Sergio) Loch and Mary (Joseph) Buelt. Jack and Kathryn shared a passion for travel, exploring the world hand in hand, and their bond was a source of inspiration to all who knew them. Jack found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren, Erich (Jenny) Loch, Monika (Michael) Nedved, and Patrick Buelt, and was further blessed with nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought light into his life. Jack's enduring smile, which earned him the nickname "Smiling Jack" in high school, was a beacon of warmth and positivity that never faded. It was this infectious smile that endeared him to students and colleagues alike throughout his esteemed 41-year career as an elementary teacher in the Slinger, Genesee, and Oconomowoc School Districts. Jack's dedication to education was unparalleled, having earned his teaching certificate in 1956 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education by 1962. His influence extended beyond the classroom, as he also served for eight honorable years with the Wisconsin National Guard. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jack was a man of many passions. He was an avid artist, finding peace in drawing and painting. He shared countless hours with Kathryn completing crossword puzzles, a testament to their enduring partnership. Jack cherished his time on the golf course as an active league member at Pagonica and La Bell, finding camaraderie and joy in the game. He took pride in maintaining his lawn and delighted in the thrill of rummage sales and flea markets, always on the lookout for hidden treasures. Jack's life will be celebrated on June 23, 2026, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, located at 995 S Silver Lake St., Oconomowoc, WI 53066. The service will commence at 11:00 am, where friends and family will gather to honor a man whose life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and learning. As we remember Jack Wright, let us carry forward his legacy of kindness and dedication, keeping his smile alive in our hearts and actions. His memory will forever be cherished by his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate to know him. Rest in peace, dear Jack, in the arms of those who have gone before, and in the eternal love of your beloved Kathryn.
