In Loving Memory

Jack Gray
June 18, 2008 — April 17, 2026
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Jack Gray, who left this world far too soon on April 17, 2026. Jack was born on June 18, 2008, in the warm embrace of Puerto Rico, where he first opened his eyes to the beauty and challenges of life. At just 17 years old, Jack's gentle soul departed after a valiant struggle with mental illness, a battle he faced with courage and grace.
Jack was the cherished son of Malcolm Gray and Rose Mendez, who nurtured his curious spirit and unwavering kindness. From a young age, Jack showed a remarkable talent for weaving words into stories, a gift he generously shared with those around him. An avid writer and a complicated artist, he was a constant light in literature, introducing friends and family to the timeless works of Shakespeare and the poignant poems of Rupi Kaur. His love for reading was unmatched, and he found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books.
Known for his sweetness, politeness, and quick wit, Jack's sarcastic humor brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. He was a beautiful soul, grappling with the hardships of self-worth, yet he never failed to extend genuine compassion and understanding to others. Though Jack faced persistent challenges with depression and rejection, he held onto hope for a brighter future for those he loved. His wish was for everyone to continue living their lives with purpose and happiness, even in his absence.
Jack is preceded in death by his dear sister, Vanessa Gray, and cherished cousins Loki, Sidney, and David Gray. While the pain of their loss is immeasurable, we find comfort in knowing they are reunited in peace.
In honoring Jack's memory, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing family and close friends to bid farewell and celebrate his remarkable life in an intimate setting.
The Gray family wishes to share a heartfelt message of gratitude and love:
From Malcolm, Jack's father: "Thank you, Jay. You lit up my life and made everything a bit more funny. Though we’ve had our moments, I’m sure you’re still laughing from wherever you are. Don’t laugh at my bald spot too hard, okay? I love you, kid."
Vanessa, Jack's sister, expresses her love: "I love you, Jack. You’re everything to me."
Jack's legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness, creativity, and infectious laughter. As we mourn his passing, we honor the beautiful human being he was and carry forward the light he left behind.
May Jack find the peace he so greatly deserves, and may his memory continue to inspire us to live with empathy and love.
Rest in peace, dear Jack. You will be profoundly missed and eternally remembered.
