Ivory Jean Day

September 22, 1947 — May 19, 2026

Ivory Jean Day, a cherished soul whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Ivory was born on September 22, 1947, in the close-knit community of Vaughan, Mississippi, where she would go on to touch countless lives with her warmth and generosity. Ivory was the beloved daughter of the late Eugene Butler Sr. and Annie Lee Seaton. She was preceded in death by her dear parents, her sisters Rosie Lee Harris and Annie Bell Coleman, her brothers Clemon Butler, Kenneth Butler, and Roosevelt Butler, her sons Raymond Butler and Jerome Day, her granddaughter LaTonya Goodrum, and her great-grandsons Camron Goodrum and Reese Goodrum. Though their absence was deeply felt, Ivory carried their memories with grace and strength. Her legacy continues through her surviving family: her loving daughters Wanda Hudson and Gayla Day, her devoted son Edwin Butler, and her cherished sisters Beulah and Eliza Butler. Ivory was also blessed with a large and loving family, including 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. A proud graduate of Linwood School in Vaughan, Mississippi, Ivory dedicated 30 years of service to Baptist Hospital, where her dedication and compassion left a lasting impression on colleagues and patients alike. Beyond her professional life, she was an active and vital member of Madvernize Baptist Church, where she led the Usher Board for three decades. Her leadership and commitment to her faith community were sources of inspiration and comfort to many. Ivory's passions for life extended to the serene waters where she was an avid fisher, never missing an opportunity to cast her line. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, yielding bountiful harvests that she generously shared with family and friends. Her green thumb was matched only by her ability to cultivate relationships, making everyone feel welcome and valued in her presence. Those who knew Ivory will forever remember her for her kindness, her generosity, and her gift for making everyone feel at home. Her life was a tapestry of love, woven with the threads of her many roles: mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and neighbor. A service to celebrate the life of Ivory Jean Day will be held on May 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Madvernize Baptist Church, located at 9277 Vaughan Rd, Vaughan, MS 39179. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who have offered calls and prayers during this time of sorrow. In honoring Ivory's life, let us remember her not with sadness, but with the joy and love she shared so freely. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
