February 23, 1957 – June 17, 2026 With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ivery Davis Sr., who departed this life on June 10, 2026, at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with heart disease and kidney failure. Born on February 23, 1957, in Albany, Georgia, Ivery was the beloved son of the late Ossie Lee Davis and Robert Lee Davis Sr. Ivery was a beacon of strength and compassion, known for his unwavering dedication to helping others. His journey through life was marked by resilience and kindness, qualities that endeared him to all who were fortunate to know him. He was a man who embraced the simple joys in life, finding solace and happiness in the gentle act of fishing or the peacefulness of sitting by a lake, and he shared his love of cooking with family and friends. Ivery's path in education led him to earn his GED from the Maryland Adult Educational System, a testament to his commitment to personal growth and learning. He went on to dedicate over 20 years of his professional life as a Research Assistant at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where his work contributed to the betterment of many lives. Family was the cornerstone of Ivery's life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Davis Sr. and Ossie Lee Davis, his brother Johnny Lee Davis, and five sisters: Carrie Bell Sims-Strum, Virginia Lee Rowe, Ocie Lee Potts (Noah), Rosa Gibson (Andrew), and Redell Kennedy. Ivery leaves behind a legacy of love through his family. He is survived by his daughters, Quantawana English and Lakesha Davis, and sons, Tyrone Walker, Carl Walker, Ivery Davis Jr., and Jayden Hubbard. His memory will also be cherished by his ten grandchildren, Diamond Moore, Jordan Moore, Ronnita Moore, Lexus Moore, Antonya Moorison, Steven Trowell Jr., and Jerohn English Jr., and his great-grandchild, whose life was just beginning. Ivery's family extends to his surviving brothers, Robert Davis (Mary), Cleveland Davis (Irene), Jessie Davis (Velinda), and David Shed (Alice), and sisters Bernice Davis Hill and Artiszell Johnson. He is also remembered fondly by his devoted friends Robin Dewar, Helen Highbarger, Paula Hubbard, and his devoted cousin Leonard Davis, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Ivery shared part of his life's journey with Brenda Joyce Lewis, with whom he was married for seven years and fathered three beautiful children. Later, on June 5, 2005, he married Denise Davis, with whom he shared a loving union. As we gather to celebrate the life of Ivery Davis Sr., we honor a man whose firm yet gentle spirit touched the lives of many. His legacy is one of strength, compassion, and an enduring love for those he leaves behind. Though he has departed from this earth, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. A memorial service will be held to honor Ivery's life and legacy. Details will be shared with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Ivery's memory, continuing his lifelong commitment to helping others. May Ivery Davis Sr. rest in eternal peace, knowing his life made a difference in this world, and his memory will be cherished forever.
