Ivan Ross Harrison

July 2, 1951 — September 29, 2026

Ivan Ross Harrison, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on September 29, 2026, after facing recent medical issues. Born on July 2, 1951, in Mooresville, North Carolina, Ivan was the cherished son of the late Burley Ross Harrison and Delcie Stanford. Ivan's life was defined by service, love, and a profound sense of humor. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War as a fireman and firearms specialist, earning three medals for his bravery and dedication: the VCM w/69 DEV, the NDSM, and the VSM. Following his military service, Ivan embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a Vat Operator for Carolina Rubber Hose. His work ethic and integrity left an indelible mark on both his colleagues and the industry. Ivan was a man of many interests and talents. He was fond of athletics, having been a dedicated baseball player, an exceptional bowler, and a skilled pool shooter. Sports were a lifelong passion, and he relished watching games, especially when it came to his favorite team, the Carolina Panthers. In recent years, he developed a keen interest in golf, which he enjoyed watching. Education was important to Ivan, and he attended North Rowan High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and began to shape the values that would guide him throughout his life. His quick wit and humble demeanor endeared him to all who knew him, and he attended Nazarene Church when physically able. For two years, he also enjoyed camaraderie and community as a member of Elks 699. Ivan's family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Debarah Tait of Salisbury, and his loving daughter, Jennifer Harrison of Texas. He was the proud grandfather of three: Connor Piper of Texas, and Alexandria and Amora Piper, both of Concord. Ivan's siblings, Janna Harrison Underwood of Mooresville, Vicki Harrison Young of Morehead City, and Lillie Williams Marks and Rhonda Williams Sullivan, both of Rockwell, along with many cherished nephews, nieces, and cousins, will forever hold his memory dear. A celebration of Ivan's life will be held on October 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Glenwood Memorial Park, located at 273 Glenwood Drive, Mooresville, NC 28115. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor a life well-lived and a man deeply loved. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Humane Society Of Rowan County, located in Salisbury, NC, to honor Ivan's love for animals and his compassionate spirit. Ivan Ross Harrison's legacy of love, service, and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. His memory will forever be a blessing.
