In Loving Memory

Ivan (Bird) Lowe
March 28, 1959 — May 13, 2026
It is with heavy hearts but fond memories that we announce the passing of Ivan Lowe, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Ivan departed this world peacefully in his sleep on May 13, 2026, after a valiant battle with multiple cancers. He was 67 years old.
Born on March 28, 1959, in the vibrant city of Denver, Colorado, Ivan was the cherished son of Alan Gary Lowe and Hattie Pauline Thorpe, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up alongside his brothers, Eric, Heinrick, and Hans Lowe, each of whom he held dear and who have also preceded him in death.
Ivan's life was one of service, both to his country and to the ones he loved. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Ivan dedicated 26 years of his life to serving his nation with honor and distinction. His commitment and dedication were a testament to his unwavering sense of duty and loyalty.
In 1980, Ivan welcomed his first child, Ivy Charrisse, into the world with his then-wife, Celeste Andrea Johnson, who has since passed on. He later found love again and married his soulmate, Katharina Lenhardt, on July 28, 1989, in a quaint German town. Together, Ivan and Katharina shared 36 beautiful years of marriage, during which they built a life filled with laughter, music, and joy. Their union was blessed with two sons, Johanne and Darrian Lowe, and a cherished daughter, Ivy Wilson, who, along with her husband Derrick Wilson, brought Ivan immense pride and happiness.
Ivan was a man of many passions and talents. Those who knew him will fondly remember his infectious smile, witty humor, and the warmth he exuded. He was a natural storyteller, often recounting tales from his youth and adventures in the Army. Ivan's love for music was profound; he spent countless hours strumming his bass guitar and banjo, immersing himself in the melodies that brought him immense joy. His love for reading, particularly fantasy and sci-fi novels, fueled his imagination, while fishing and watching anime, westerns, and Chinaman movies were some of his favorite pastimes.
His family, always his priority, was his greatest source of comfort and pride. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Katharina, his sons Johanne and Darrian, his daughter Ivy and son-in-law Derrick. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Carmen McCalister, who brought a sparkle to his eyes and warmth to his heart.
Ivan's surviving siblings, Reginald and Byron Lowe, along with a niece, Lalona Lowe, and nephews Joshua and Christopher Lowe, will forever cherish their memories of their brother and uncle. His legacy continues through his great-niece, Mya Hendrix, and great-nephews, Devondrick Thompson, Caleb and Colby Lowe, and Michael Hendrix, as well as a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss him dearly.
Ivan's life was a testament to his role as a provider and protector, not just for his family, but for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be forever cherished, his stories retold, and his love everlasting.
As we bid farewell to Ivan, we do so with gratitude for the profound impact he had on our lives. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with those who have gone before him, and watching over us with a smile as bright as the sunshine.
Services to celebrate Ivan's life will be held in Denver, Colorado, at a date to be announced. We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in honoring a life so well-lived and deeply cherished.
Rest in peace, Ivan Lowe. You will be forever in our hearts.
