Born on October 12, 1974, in the close-knit town of Wiggins, Mississippi, Itonya graced this earth for 51 years, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Itonya was the beloved daughter of Bessie Johnson, who predeceased her, and she carried forth her mother's spirit of warmth and kindness in all her interactions. A proud graduate of Stone High School, Class of 1990, Itonya was known for her bright intellect and unwavering determination, traits that guided her throughout her life.
Her love and devotion to her family knew no bounds. Itonya is survived by her two treasured children, Gemar Johnson and Patricia Johnson, who were the light of her life. She was a devoted sister to Laverne Adams, Cleo Johnson, Jessie Peters, and Antoinette Johnson, and a loving aunt to her nephews Alvin Adams, Gregory Chandler, Patrick Johnson, Shaquille Gray, Devon Hand, and Cleon Johnson. Though she did not have grandchildren, her nurturing spirit and affection extended far beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of many in her community.
As an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Itonya's faith was a cornerstone of her existence. Her church family and community were enriched by her steadfast commitment and unwavering faith. Her warm personality and genuine kindness were a testament to her character, and she leaves behind a legacy of compassion and generosity that will be deeply missed.
A service to celebrate Itonya's life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, located at 552 Magnolia Dr S. Friends, family, and all who were touched by her presence are invited to commemorate the life of a woman who gave so selflessly to those around her.
