October 8, 1964 — April 2, 2026
It is with heavy hearts yet profound love that we share the passing of Ishaan Kareem Murbak, more familiarly known to those whose lives he touched as Calvin Wayne Merriweather. Born on October 8, 1964, in the vibrant city of Memphis, Tennessee, Calvin’s journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on April 2, 2026, following a courageous battle with a long-term illness.
Calvin was the cherished son of the late Betty Merriweather and Horace Davis, who preceded him in death along with other beloved cousins. He grew up in a family filled with love and a profound sense of community, a legacy he carried forward throughout his life. He is survived by his two devoted sisters, Gwendolyn Atkins and Angela Merriweather, and his five brothers, Ailon Malone, Ronnie Butler, Derrick Merriweather, Damon Merriweather, and Devin Merriweather. Calvin’s family was his cornerstone, and their bonds of love and support were unbreakable.
Education was both Calvin’s passion and vocation. His noble career was dedicated to teaching blind children in Tennessee, where he imparted not just education but also instilled confidence and hope in countless young hearts. His dedication to his students was unparalleled, and his impact will be remembered for generations to come.
Calvin’s life was a testament to unconditional love and genuine kindness. He was a beacon of compassion and warmth, always ready with a smile or a word of encouragement. His legacy is one of selflessness, empathy, and a deep-seated belief in the goodness of people.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Calvin's life on April 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at R.S. Lewis and Son. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to "In Loving Memory," a charity close to Calvin’s heart, ensuring his spirit of giving continues to touch lives.
As we say goodbye, we hold onto the special message Calvin’s family wishes to share: "Always love unconditionally, genuinely."
Calvin’s enduring spirit will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy of love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.
