Obituary of Isaac Smith
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Isaac Smith, who left this world peacefully at home on June 25, 2026, at the age of 58. Born on April 22, 1968, in Flint, Michigan, Isaac was a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Isaac was the beloved son of the late Jewell Smith and Annie Ruth Smith, and he is now reunited with them and his brother, Steve Smith, in eternal rest. His legacy of love and laughter continues through his cherished family, including his devoted wife of 35 years, Sonya Yvonne Smith, whom he married on a beautiful Valentine's Day evening, February 14, 1991. Together, they built a life filled with joy, adventure, and unwavering love.
A dedicated father, Isaac is survived by his son, Isaac Junior Smith the 2nd, and his daughter, Alaya Smith, who were his pride and joy. His memory and spirit will also live on through his treasured grandchildren, Amarus Jones, Anitrius Johnson, Azarion Simpson, and Kendrick Smith, who brought immense happiness to his life.
Isaac was a man of many talents and passions. After graduating high school, he pursued a career in the maintenance field, where he developed a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. His hands were never idle; they were always crafting, repairing, and creating. Isaac was also a self-proclaimed chef, delighting his family with culinary creations, from homemade cookies and pizzas to fresh-caught fish prepared with love. His mother-in-law, Trudy Mae Nelms, was often the lucky recipient of his beautifully carved fruit bowls, a testament to his creativity and skill.
Isaac's heart found joy in simple pleasures and hobbies that brought him closer to nature and family. Whether he was woodworking, fishing, or gardening, he found peace and fulfillment in these pursuits. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, often engaging in lively board games and video game sessions that echoed with laughter.
In his younger days, Isaac was a familiar face at the Dojo, where he honed his skills and discipline. He also enjoyed tranquil moments along the Riverfront, finding solace in the gentle flow of water and the beauty of the world around him.
Isaac's life was characterized by his warm smile and animated spirit, reminiscent of the classic cartoons he so dearly loved. He had an infectious sense of humor that lit up every room and made his children laugh and his wife smile each day.
A celebration of Isaac's life will be held on July 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Simmons Square, located at 2101 Stedron St. Family and friends are invited to honor his memory and share in the stories and love that he so generously gave to all.
Isaac leaves behind a host of loving friends, cousins, and extended family who will forever cherish his memory. In this time of loss, we take comfort in knowing that Isaac's spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
As we say goodbye, we remember Isaac Smith as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will remain in our hearts forever.
