In Loving Memory

Isaac Jones, Jr.
December 29, 1926 — September 12, 2026
Isaac Jones, Jr., a beloved patriarch and steadfast pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving children. Born on December 29, 1926, in Newburn, Alabama, Isaac's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and unwavering commitment to family and community.
Isaac was the cherished son of the late Isaac Jones, Sr. and Willie Ann (Jones) Johnson. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Josephine Jones, his beloved son, Charles O. Jones, and his dear siblings Eddie Jones, Johnnie Jones, Inez Bailey, and Mary Russell. Though his heart bore these losses, Isaac's spirit remained resilient and nurturing.
In April of 1949, Isaac married the love of his life, Josephine Allen, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Together, they built a life rooted in love and values, raising four wonderful children. Isaac's legacy lives on through his surviving children: his daughters Pearl Swopes and Iris Gray, and his son Isaac Jones III, along with his daughter-in-love Josephine Jones. His family tree flourished, blessing him with 15 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom Isaac adored and who adored him in return.
Isaac's life was a testament to service and hard work. After moving to Pittsburgh in 1948, he dedicated six years to the construction industry before embarking on a 33-year career with J&L Steel. His commitment to his work was paralleled by his dedication to his country, having served honorably in the Military for 16 years.
Beyond the realm of work, Isaac's passions included fishing and hunting, hobbies that connected him to the simple, profound beauty of the natural world. He was a proud member of the Runette Fish and Hunting Club and never missed the opening day of the fishing and hunting seasons. His love for the outdoors was a reflection of his deep appreciation for life's gifts.
Isaac's kindness, patience, and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Baptized at the age of 13 at Lily Hill Baptist Church in Newburn, Alabama, his faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He was known for his sage advice, offered with a gentle voice that commanded respect and inspired those around him.
Isaac leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and wisdom—a man who was not only a father and grandfather but also a mentor and friend to many. He will be dearly missed by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Isaac's memory to a charity of your choice, continuing his lifelong spirit of giving and community support.
