Irmgard Emtmann Coursey, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on August 13, 1944, in Augsburg, Germany, to Friedich and Christine Heinle Emtmann, Irmgard's life was a testament to love, dedication, and resilience.
In 1983, she married the love of her life, Leonard Harold Coursey Sr., in Houston. Together, they shared over two decades of laughter and memories, nurturing their only daughter and creating a warm, loving home filled with joy. Though Leonard predeceased her, their bond remains an enduring legacy for their family.
Irmgard dedicated over 30 years of her career to Tico Industries, retiring in 2019. Her colleagues and friends remember her as a pillar of strength, known for her unwavering support and caring nature. Outside of work, Irmgard found joy in watching sports and relishing the time spent with her large, loving family.
She leaves behind her cherished daughter, Kristie Chano, and her adored grandchildren, Christina Martin, Jordian Martin, Montana Morgan, Ariel Morgan, Heather Bradford, Brooke Bradford, Sarah Shefflette, and Cassidy Harper, among others. With a total of 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, Irmgard's legacy of love and kindness continues to flourish through the generations.
Irmgard was a beacon of love and care, always ready to lend a listening ear or offer a comforting embrace. Her family, who fondly remembers her as a steadfast source of support, extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital for their compassionate care during her final days.
In keeping with her wishes, A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Irmgard's life.
Irmgard Emtmann Coursey will forever be remembered as a loving matriarch who enriched the lives of everyone she touched. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family, and she will remain forever in their hearts.
