It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Iris Yolanda (Jody) Rodriguez on April 26, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 30, 1947, in Edinburgh, Texas, Jody was a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering devotion to family. Jody was the cherished daughter of Roberto and Jovita Cantu, who precede her in death, along with her beloved brother, Robert E. Cantu. Her life was forever enriched by her enduring marriage to her college sweetheart, Robert 'Bob' Rodriguez. Together, they celebrated 57 beautiful years of marriage, marking a lifetime of shared adventures and cherished memories. Jody and Bob's love story began when they wed on December 14, 1968, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and unwavering support for one another. Jody's dedication to her family was boundless. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob; her children, Lisa (Freddie), Michael (Amy) and Melissa (Dan), all who brought immense joy to her life. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Kristofer Weaver, Ashton LaFerney(Kendall), Ethan LeMay, Sloane and James Rodriguez, and the arrival of her first great-grandchild, who were the lights of her life. Jody also leaves behind her dear sister, Norma Martinez, and husband Roy, several nieces and nephews and her cherished best friend, Sharron Noblitt with whom she shared countless tennis matches, several girl trips and moments of laughter. A proud graduate of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School, Jody pursued higher education preparing for a career in the travel industry. Her passion for travel led her to a fulfilling career as an agent for US and Oasis Travel, where she meticulously planned business and personal trips, helping countless members of her community create their own cherished memories. Jody's life was marked by her profound dedication to her family. She worked tirelessly to contribute to her children's education at St. Mary's Catholic School, instilling in them the values of love, faith, and family support. Her generous spirit and nurturing nature were the foundation upon which her family thrived. Throughout her life and retirement, Jody found joy in traveling the world and celebrating life with Bob, indulging in her love for reading on her Kindle, and keeping up with current events and their favorite shows. Her gentle spirit and unwavering support were a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who brought joy and beautiful memories to Jody's life. She cherished her friends and family and would want all to know she was blessed by their love and kindness. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Jody's life and legacy. As we mourn her passing, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and a legacy of cherished memories that will forever remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those who wish to honor Jody's memory to do so by spending time with loved ones, sharing a meal, or embarking on an adventure, just as she would have done. In this way, her spirit will continue to touch lives, as she did in life.
