April 20, 1938 — February 27, 2026
It is with a heavy heart and profound sense of loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Irene Rudick on February 27, 2026, at her beloved home surrounded by family. Born on April 20, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, Irene was a woman of warmth, strength, and unwavering love, who touched the lives of many throughout her 87 remarkable years.
Irene was the cherished daughter of Benjamin Harvitz and Ruth Lubansky, and the loving sister to Melvin and Martin Harvitz, all of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband, Isadore Rudick, and her beloved daughter, Audrey Kashdan. Despite these profound losses, Irene's spirit remained resilient, a testament to her enduring love and dedication to her family.
Her life was enriched by three marriages, each bringing unique chapters of love and companionship. She first married Ronald Seligsohn, then Steve Brodie, and finally, Isadore Rudick, with whom she shared many joyful years until his passing. Irene was a devoted mother to her son, Howard Seligsohn, and a beloved grandmother to Emily and Ian Kashdan and Sarah McVicar. Her legacy of love extends to her great-grandchildren, Severin, Greyson, and Maverick Kashdan, who will carry forward the light of her memory.
Irene's journey through life was marked by a dedication to learning and creativity. She graduated from high school and pursued college courses, along with various art classes that fueled her passion for pottery and sewing. Her career began as a telephone operator, but she found her true calling as a homemaker, where she could nurture her family and create a home filled with love and laughter.
An active member of her synagogue and parent-teacher associations, Irene was a pillar of strength and support in her community. Her intelligence and quick wit endeared her to many, and she was never shy about speaking her mind. She was a lover of board games, card games, and puzzles, and her home was often filled with the sounds of laughter and the joy of shared stories.
Irene's love for animals, particularly her soft spot for Shih Tzus, added an extra layer of warmth to her personality. She was an avid reader, always eager to explore new worlds through the pages of a book, and she delighted in entertaining family and friends, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
In her final years, Irene was blessed with the compassionate care of the staffs at Atria Oakridge, ABC, Legacy, and Hospice. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to these caring professionals for their dedication and kindness. The bonds she formed with fellow residents were a source of joy and comfort, and her family wishes to acknowledge the strength of these friendships.
A private funeral ceremony will be held in accordance with her family's wishes. As we bid farewell to Irene, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit that will be forever missed. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends, a testament to a life of kindness, love, and unwavering devotion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Irene's memory to a charity close to your heart, as a way of honoring her lifelong compassion and generosity.
Rest in peace, dear Irene. Your legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire us all.
