It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Irene Lee Allen (Campbell) on June 29, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on October 28, 1951, in Yakima, Washington, Irene was the cherished daughter of Bud and Donna Crawford. Irene was a beacon of kindness and generosity, qualities that she inherited from her beloved grandmothers, Rita Clayton and Mabel Crawford, who predeceased her along with her parents and step-son, Jesse Allen. Raised in the embrace of her loving family, Irene carried forward their legacy of compassion and strength. A proud graduate of West Valley High School's Class of 1969, Irene embarked on a fulfilling career in the grocery industry. She brought warmth and a sincere smile to each customer she served as a grocery checker at Mead's Market Foods, Ray's Thriftway, and Tidyman's Grocery. Later, she continued to spread joy and serve her community at Burger Ranch. Irene's work was not just a job; it was an extension of her nurturing spirit, and she formed many lasting friendships along the way. On October 3, 1986, Irene married the love of her life, Doug Allen, in the very town where her journey began. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, enriched by shared adventures and travels that filled their hearts with joy and memories. Together, they built a blended family that became the core of her world. Irene is survived by her devoted husband, Doug Allen, and her loving son, Shawn Crawford, along with his wife Jessica. She also leaves behind her cherished step-daughter Candy Allen and her partner Kristin, and step-son Beau Allen. Irene's legacy of love extends to her dear sisters, Deb Dovel and Sue Crawford, who shared in her life’s joys and sorrows. Her heart was fullest in the presence of her grandchildren, Brody, Clay, Mackenzie, Maddison, Lucy, Jacob, and Danny, and her great-grandchild, Aria, who brought her immeasurable delight and pride. Irene's home was always open, her arms always welcoming, and her heart always full for her family. In her spare time, Irene was an avid reader and shopper, passions that reflected her endless curiosity and love for life's pleasures. Her generosity touched everyone she met, and her caring nature was a comfort to all who knew her. To honor Irene’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate her life and legacy. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Valley Hospital in Spokane Valley, Washington, for their compassionate care during Irene's final days. As we say goodbye, let us remember Irene for her infectious warmth, her unwavering love, and the beautiful memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of giving and kindness.
