Born on October 11, 1942, in El Paso, Texas, to Nazario and Patrocino Diaz, Irene's life was a testament to resilience and love. Irene's journey began with her graduation from Edison High School in Fresno, California. Shortly thereafter, she embarked on a distinguished career with the State of California, dedicating over 30 years to the Department of Motor Vehicles and State Disability. As a Program Technician II, she excelled in her roles and found deep satisfaction in serving as a translator for the Spanish-speaking community, embodying her commitment to service and compassion. On November 21, 1970, Irene married the love of her life, Raymond Garcia, in Fresno, California. Their 52-year marriage was marked by love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Raquel and Rebecca, fostering a home filled with warmth and joy. Though predeceased by her husband Raymond and daughter Rebecca, Irene's legacy is lovingly carried forward by her surviving daughter, Raquel Garcia. An active member of the Catholic Church throughout her life, Irene's faith was a guiding light in her journey. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, from tending to her vibrant garden, reading novels that transported her to distant worlds, to watching the birds that graced her backyard. Her leisurely walks were a time for reflection and appreciation of nature's beauty. Irene will be remembered for her quick wit and warm smile, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. Her sense of humor and kindness were an integral part of her character, always bringing joy and comfort to those around her. The family invites friends and loved ones to join in celebrating Irene’s life on August 14, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory, located at 2838 N West Ave, Fresno, CA 93705. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Irene's memory to organizations supporting Alzheimer's research or to a charity of your choice. Irene Diaz Garcia's life was a beacon of love, service, and faith. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
