Born on May 19, 1947, in Hastings, Michigan, Ira was a beloved son of Earl and Irene Cheeseman. He lived a life full of love, dedication, and adventure, leaving behind a legacy that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Ira served his country with distinction in the Korean War, embodying the spirit of honor and duty. After his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career as a welder before eventually retiring as a truck driver, where he was admired for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Family was the cornerstone of Ira's life. He was a devoted father to his sons, Anthony and his wife Kathleen, and Adam Cheeseman. His love further extended to his treasured grandchildren, Nevin and Avery, with whom he shared countless joyful moments. Ira was a doting brother to Henry and Zelma, always cherishing the bonds of family. Though he is predeceased by his dear brother Elmer and his beloved wife Debora, their memories continued to be a guiding force in his life. Beyond his family and career, Ira was a man of simple pleasures. He found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid outdoorsman, relishing every opportunity to go fishing and camping. Ira had dreams of traveling around the country with his camper during retirement, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for nature. Ira's warmth, kindness, and gentle demeanor touched the lives of many. He was a man who believed in living life to the fullest, always with a smile and a helping hand. His legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. A service to honor and celebrate Ira's life will be held on August 14, 2026, at 5:00 PM at his home, located at 313 Santee Hwy, Charlotte, MI 48813. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are welcome to join in commemorating a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, a gesture that reflects Ira's generous spirit and commitment to helping others. Ira Homer Cheeseman will be dearly missed but never forgotten. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, a guiding light of love and kindness.
