In Loving Memory of Inez Thacker Wright
October 5, 1936 – April 25, 2026
With heavy hearts, the family of Inez Thacker Wright announces her peaceful passing on April 25, 2026, at the age of 89. Inez was a beloved wife, cherished mother, devoted grandmother, and great-grandmother, who leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
Born to Olie and Dollie Thacker on October 5, 1936, Inez spent her formative years in a nurturing and loving environment, alongside her brother Chester and her sister Marion. Her parents instilled in her the values of compassion, resilience, and faith that she carried throughout her life. She was predeceased by her father Olie, her mother Dollie, and her brother Chester, all of whom she loved dearly.
On May 30, 1958, Inez married the love of her life, Wilbur Wright, with whom she shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership as they raised three children—Wyatt Wright, Teresa O'Connor and her husband Dennis, and Cheryl Donohue and her husband Matthew—instilling in them the same values and love of family that Inez held dear.
Inez was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Michael Wright and his wife Lindsay, Morgan Wright, Laura Zwileneff and her husband Christian, Rachel O'Connor, Kellie Sigler and her husband Robert, Samual O'Connor, and Joseph Donohue. Her joy was magnified with the arrival of four great-grandchildren: Brielle and Malina Zwileneff, and Daniel and Sadie Sigler. Each of them was a source of immense pride and joy for Inez, who cherished every moment spent with her family.
A woman of deep faith, Inez devoted much of her time to her church community at Calvary Road Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated volunteer. Her passion for reading and watching "Wheel of Fortune" provided her with relaxation and joy. Her gentle spirit, warmth, and laughter will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Inez's life at a service on April 29, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, located at 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Inez's memory to Calvary Road Baptist Church, supporting the community she so dearly loved. Donations can be made at https://secure.myvanco.com/L-ZY9E/home.
As we say goodbye to Inez, we hold onto the cherished memories and the love she shared with us all. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, a testament to a life well-lived and a love well-shared.
