In Loving Memory
Inez Henry
May 25, 1929 — March 18, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Inez Henry, who departed this world peacefully in her sleep on March 18, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on May 25, 1929, in the beautiful island of Jamaica, West Indies, Inez lived a life full of grace, kindness, and unyielding devotion to her family and community.
Inez was the cherished daughter of Albertina Higgins, who predeceased her, along with her beloved sister, Hazel, and her devoted husband of over 40 years, Amos Henry. Together, Inez and Amos nurtured a loving family, raising seven children who carry forward their legacy of love and unity: Lucky, Patrick, Olive, Peter, Mary, Dave, and Stanley. Her family was her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to their happiness and well-being.
Inez’s life was further enriched by her role as a doting grandmother to 15 grandchildren, including Tamara, Tanesha, Ricardo, Noah, Stephanie, and Christopher, among others. Her presence was a constant source of warmth and joy to her 10 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense happiness and pride. Her family, both immediate and extended, was the cornerstone of her life, and she treasured the memories they created together.
In her professional life, Inez worked as a housekeeper, where she was respected and loved by the family she served. Her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering work ethic were a testament to her character and integrity. Beyond her professional commitments, Inez devoted much of her time to her church community. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights in Brooklyn, New York, for over 30 years, where she served diligently on the missionary board. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and her contributions to the church were immeasurable.
Inez was a woman of many talents and interests. An avid sewer, she found joy in creating beautiful pieces that reflected her keen eye for fashion and style. Her home was a sanctuary, meticulously cared for and filled with love—a testament to her skills as a homemaker. Her generous spirit and fashionable flair left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
To honor Inez’s remarkable life, a service will be held on March 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights, located at 450 Eastern Parkway. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating the life of a woman whose love and kindness touched so many.
Inez’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of her life and supported her throughout the years. Their special message is one of appreciation for her loving family, who were always there for her, no matter what. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the church mission that Inez held so dear to her heart.
As we say goodbye to a matriarch whose life was a testament to love, strength, and resilience, we find solace in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide us. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her and will be cherished for generations to come.
