It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of I’m Robert Mae Bowden-Mims. Born on April 6, 1944, in Groves, Texas, Jefferson, Robert Mae departed this world on July 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service.
Robert Mae was the cherished daughter of Sam and Eva Bowden, who preceded her in death, along with her beloved husband, Leroy Mims, whom she married in September 1975. She was also preceded by her sisters Mary Helen Thomas, Susie Allen, and Betty Johnson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart.
A proud graduate of Scared Heart Catholic School in 1962, Robert Mae continued her education at Lamar University, where she pursued her passion for nursing and phlebotomy. Her career as a caregiver was marked by her unwavering dedication and compassion, attributes that she was known for by all who crossed her path.
Robert Mae's beautiful smile and dimples were more than just physical traits; they were reflections of her warm and generous spirit. She had a remarkable ability to brighten any room and lift the spirits of those around her. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and the importance of family, values she instilled in her loved ones.
She is survived by her cherished son, Jeffrey Ford; devoted grandson, Qualine; beloved granddaughter, Alicia; and her sister, Gloria Foreman. Robert Mae's legacy continues through her six great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Robert Mae Bowden-Mims will be held on July 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hannah Funeral Home, located on Lewis Drive in Port Arthur, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in the love and memories that Robert Mae so generously gifted to all.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the cancer center and Compassion Hospital for their exceptional care. Special thanks to nieces Pam Foreman, Lois McMillian, Tiffany Kelly, and her sister Gloria for their unwavering support and for maintaining Robert Mae's cherished car, a symbol of her independence and journey through life.
Rest in peace, dear Robert Mae. Your life was a blessing, and you will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives you touched.
