Ilene M. Cech

Ilene M. Cech, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed peacefully in her sleep on October 2, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on May 20, 1938, in the quaint town of Atkinson, Nebraska, Ilene was the cherished daughter of Catherine Snowardt Wagman and Frederick E. Wagman. From the very beginning, her life was woven with the threads of love, resilience, and dedication. Ilene's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family. She was a devoted mother to her oldest daughter, Cynthia (Davidson) Perkins, and three other daughters and two sons. Her nurturing spirit extended to her legacy of 39 grandchildren and an incredible 66 great-grandchildren, all of whom she held dear. Her family was her pride and joy, and she delighted in every moment spent with them. A highly regarded waitress, Ilene was known for her hard work and dedication. Her career was a testament to her strong work ethic and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Her warm smile and attentive nature left a lasting impression on everyone she served. Ilene had a talent for sewing and crafting, hobbies that brought her immense joy and allowed her to express her creativity. Her handmade treasures were a testament to her skill and the love she infused into each piece. These crafts became cherished keepsakes for her family and friends, a tangible reminder of her boundless love. Throughout her life, Ilene encountered her share of heartache, having been predeceased by her parents, siblings, infant son, and numerous cousins and family members. She also faced the loss of her first, second, and third husbands. Yet, despite these challenges, she remained a beacon of strength and compassion, providing a loving home for her family. A private funeral service will be held on October 5, 2026, at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo, Nebraska. The family wishes to honor Ilene's legacy with a private interment and respectfully requests no family donations.
