In Loving Memory
Ida Mae Mann
August 25, 1936 — April 29, 2026
Ida Mae Mann, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world on April 29, 2026, at the age of 89. Ida was born on August 25, 1936, in the charming town of Williamsport, PA, where her journey of love, laughter, and resilience began. She was the cherished daughter of Willard and Ester Mann, who preceded her in death, along with her beloved husband, Raymond Rothhaas, her brother, Butch Mann, three stepchildren, and her first husband, Charles Cummings.
Ida’s life was a vibrant tapestry of cherished moments and deep connections. She married Charles Cummings in Williamsport, PA, in 1956, and together they shared 17 years of happiness and raised nine wonderful children. Though their paths eventually diverged, Ida’s heart found love again when she met Raymond Rothhaas. They married in Kenmore, OH, in 1982, and shared 20 blissful years until his passing in 2002.
A dedicated student, Ida graduated from Western Union College in 1956. Her professional life saw her working diligently with Square D, where she eventually retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. Her commitment to serving others was evident in her many years of volunteering at Barberton Hospital, where her warmth and empathy touched countless lives.
Ida was a woman of many passions, her spirit ever brightened by the rhythm of music and the joy of dance. She was known for her exceptional taste in music, food, and friends, always lighting up a room with her laughter and infectious spirit. Her love for good food—especially sweets—was legendary, and she relished every opportunity to share these delights with those she loved.
Her family was the cornerstone of her life. She leaves behind a rich legacy through her children: Charles (Barbara), Michael (Cindy), Francis Daniel (Lou), Susan, Mary Anne (Greg), Kathleen (Charles), Barbara (Dave), Theresa, and John (Valerie), along with four stepchildren. Ida was also the proud matriarch of 29 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored. Her sisters, Florence Rebecca (Thomas) and Carol, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, will forever cherish her memory.
Ida’s heart was as expansive as her family, and her kindness knew no bounds. She had a knack for finding beauty in the simplest of things, often enjoying a good yard sale where she would hunt for treasures like Fenton glass. Her life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the joy of living fully.
As we celebrate Ida’s life, we remember her as a beacon of light, a woman whose love and laughter filled the hearts of those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though we mourn her passing, we find solace in the beautiful memories she created and the love that will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the music and love she cherished so dearly.
Graveside Services will take place on Tuesday May 12th, 2026 starting at 11:00 am, at the Holy Cross Cemetery, located at 100 E Waterloo Rd, Akron, OH 44319.
A celebrate of life to honor Ida’s remarkable life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to the volunteer services at Barberton Hospital, a place where she found so much joy.
