Ida Gloreita "Jeane" Hunt Lester, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at the age of 91. Born in Leesville, Louisiana, on April 8, 1935, Jeane was the cherished daughter of Charles W. Jeane and Ola Fontenot Jeane. She was a proud resident of Leesville her entire life, cultivating deep roots in her community and among her loved ones.
Jeane was preceded in death by her devoted husband of over 25 years, Jackie Lester; her parents; six brothers; and two sisters. Despite these profound losses, her life was filled with love and laughter, shared with her surviving family members: her sons, Audie J. Hunt and his wife Alice of Simpson, Louisiana, and Robbyn Hunt of Anacoco, Louisiana; her daughters, Pam Hudgins and her husband Mike of Asheville, North Carolina, and Rhonda Jackson and her husband Wayne of Moontownship, Pennsylvania; her brother, Gary Jeane of Leesville, Louisiana; and her sister, Nelva Sauls of DeRidder, Louisiana. Jeane also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Jeane's life was a testament to the power of love and faith. Her family was the cornerstone of her existence, only surpassed by her unwavering devotion to Christ. Her warmth and humor were unmatched, with her quick wit bringing smiles to all who knew her. Jeane's hands were always busy, whether in the garden tending to her beloved plants, in the kitchen where her culinary talents were unmatched, or at her sewing machine crafting beautiful creations. Her home was a haven of hospitality, where she generously shared her time and talents, making everyone feel welcome and loved.
A celebration of Jeane's life will be held on July 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, located at 601 S. Fourth St., Leesville, Louisiana. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life she led.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jeane's memory to a charity of your choice. Her legacy of love, faith, and generosity will be cherished forever by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
