July 24, 1933 — April 13, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Hutson E. McCorkle, who left this world on April 13, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on July 24, 1933, in Sommerville, Tennessee, Hutson's life was a testament to love, dedication, and service to others. He departed this life from a broken heart, a poignant end to a life filled with compassion and warmth.
Hutson was the beloved son of the late Henry and Ethel McCorkle. He spent his formative years in Tennessee, where he graduated from Halls High School. Both of his parents were esteemed educators there, undoubtedly instilling in him the values of education and perseverance. A talented athlete, Hutson was voted MVP in both football and basketball during his high school years, a testament to his dedication and talent.
He pursued higher education with equal passion, attending Union University on a basketball scholarship, and later, the University of Tennessee Dental School in Memphis. It was there he met the love of his life, Nancy Ruth Beane, who was then studying at hygiene school. Their love story began in those hallowed halls and culminated in marriage on April 5, 1958, a union blessed with love and companionship until Nancy's passing.
Hutson proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Captain over a commendable four-year tenure. After his service, he dedicated himself to a distinguished career in dentistry, practicing for over 50 years and retiring at the age of 80. His commitment to his profession was recognized through his affiliations with esteemed organizations, including the International and American College of Dentists, and his role as President of the Dental Society of Greater Orlando.
A man of faith, Hutson, alongside Nancy, was an active member of Pine Castle United Methodist Church, where they found a community of fellowship and support. He also enjoyed camaraderie as a past member of the Optimist and Sertoma clubs.
Hutson was a man of many interests. He delighted in the rhythm of square dancing at the Whirl and Twirl, and found peace in the solitude of deer and turkey hunting. Known affectionately as Dr. Spike, he was happiest when driving the boat for his children's water skiing adventures or cheering them on at their sporting events. His presence was often announced by his cheerful whistling, a reflection of his joyful spirit and love for people.
He is predeceased by his cherished parents and his dear wife, Nancy. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Michael (Corina), David, and Kelly, his sister Carolyn, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and his love for them was unwavering.
A service to celebrate Hutson's remarkable life will be held on May 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Pine Castle United Methodist Church. We invite all who knew and loved him to attend and honor his memory.
In our hearts, Hutson E. McCorkle will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and a friend to many. His warm spirit, caring nature, and enduring smile will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved Nancy, and may his legacy of love and kindness continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
