Michael "Mike" Edmondson, a cherished husband, devoted father, beloved son, and revered community member, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland, unexpectedly. Born on May 31, 1971, in the vibrant city of Baltimore, Mike was a beacon of hope, love, and inspiration to all who had the privilege of crossing his path.
Mike was the beloved son of Patricia Edmondson and the late Gary "Timmy" Hawkins, who predeceased him. His upbringing was enriched by a strong family bond that laid the foundation for the remarkable life he led. A proud graduate of Walbrook High School, Class of 1989, Mike embarked on a journey that would see him touch countless lives through his work and personal endeavors.
A man of many talents and roles, Mike's career spanned various fields. He began his professional journey at Attman's Delicatessen and later contributed to the City of Baltimore. His passion for helping others led him to roles in banking and real estate, where he became an established business owner and an influential public adjuster. Mike was also a gifted author, sharing his wisdom and experiences through the written word. His commitment to mentorship was evident in his involvement with the Big Brother program, where he dedicated his time to guiding and supporting the youth. A cherished member of Bethel A.M.E Church, Mike's faith and service were integral to his life.
In May 2025, Mike married the love of his life, Chevelle "Vel" Edmondson. Their union was a testament to the profound love and unwavering companionship they shared. Vel stood by Mike's side through every challenge, embodying the true essence of partnership and devotion. Together, they created a loving home for their children: Tisheka, Michael "Mike-Mike," Jamil, Khalil, Jalen, Teaisha, and Shaytauin. Mike's legacy will continue to thrive through his six cherished grandchildren—Taniya, Tanira, Jayden, Jamiya, Knox, and Serenity—and his great-grandchild, Zamari, who brought immense joy to his life.
Mike was a man of vibrant interests. He was a lifelong Ravens fan, and his infectious laugh could be heard at family cookouts, where he delighted in good food and the company of loved ones. His love for house music and sports betting added to the tapestry of his adventurous spirit. Above all, Mike's greatest joy was spending time with his family, whether traveling or sharing his wisdom with both children and adults.
Those who knew Mike remember him as a hero—an exceptional, legendary figure with a heart full of generosity and a mind brimming with intelligence. His selflessness, loyalty, and bravery were evident in every facet of his life. Mike was a natural leader, a family man whose caring nature left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.
Mike's memory will forever be cherished by his wife- Chevelle Edmondson, mother, Patricia Edmondson, his sisters Katiza "Tiza" Brown and Karen Pittman (Tony Pittman), his children-Tisheka, Michael (Mike-Mike), Jamil, Khalil, Jalen, Teaisha and Shaytauin, Aunt-Doris Hawkins, Grandchildren-Taniya, Tenira, Jayden, Jamiya, Knox and Serenity, Great Grand Child- Zamari , In-Laws- Floyd & Jewelry Huntley, Kowona Huntley a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including his devoted friends and extended family, Aaron Scott and Etanya Addison . His legacy of love, strength, and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew him.
