Hugo was born on November 27, 1954, in the quaint town of Sarandí del Yí, Durazno, Uruguay. He was the cherished son of Justa Valentina Igarzabal Correa and the late Victor Hugo Caffa Finamore. His early life in Uruguay was marked by a deep sense of community and joy, values that he carried with him throughout his life.
A man of remarkable character, Hugo was known for his easygoing nature and infectious sense of humor. He could light up any room with his charismatic presence and had a rare gift for making everyone feel instantly at ease. His selflessness and genuine concern for others were evident in every aspect of his life. Hugo was a man who gave freely of his time and heart, always placing the needs of those he loved above his own.
For nearly two decades, Hugo shared an extraordinary marriage with his devoted wife, Meredith McPherson Caffa. Their union was a testament to love's enduring power, filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they created a home that was a haven of warmth and happiness, welcoming all who crossed their threshold with open arms.
Hugo was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Margaux Caffa, and her husband, Reinaldo Cesco. Hugo's bond with his sister, Sandra Caffa, was one of profound love and mutual respect, and he treasured the friendship of Elizabeth Henning, who stood by him through thick and thin.
In addition to his father, Hugo was predeceased by his beloved sister, Diana Caffa Igarzabal. Though their loss was deeply felt, Hugo honored their memories by living a life filled with kindness and compassion.

A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Hugo's life, in accordance with the wishes of his family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Hugo's memory to a charity of choice, celebrating his lifelong commitment to helping others.
