Huck McAfee

February 8, 1935 — September 1, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Huck, a cherished soul who left this world on September 1, 2026. Born on February 8, 1935, in the coastal city of Galveston, Texas, Huck lived a life full of adventure, love, and dedication to his family and community. Huck was a beacon of strength and resilience, having served his country with honor as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1946 to 1951. Following his military service, he chose a life by the sea, working as a fisherman and sailor for nearly 35 years. His deep connection with the ocean was not just a career but a passion that carried him through life. In his personal life, Huck was blessed with the steadfast companionship of his beloved wife, Rhonda McAfee. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home, raising seven sons who carry on Huck's legacy of kindness and integrity. Huck's love extended further to his 13 grandchildren, with whom he shared countless adventures and stories from his remarkable life. Huck was a man of the world, an avid traveler who proudly claimed to have set foot in every country. He had a treasure trove of memoirs and artifacts from his travels, which he shared generously with his grandchildren, instilling in them a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world. Beyond his family, Huck was a pillar of his community, always ready to lend a hand at local charity events and offering his time and efforts to those in need. His generous spirit and genuine care for others left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Huck's life will be celebrated on September 17, 2026, at 3:30 PM at the Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel, located at 21 North Palafox St. Family, friends, and all those touched by Huck's life are invited to gather in his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, a gesture that honors Huck's lifelong commitment to giving. Huck's journey through life was one of courage, laughter, and boundless love. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
