Howard Willie Wrighter
January 6, 1958 — April 9, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for his life, we announce the peaceful passing of Howard Willie Wrighter, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and community member, on April 9, 2026. Born on January 6, 1958, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Howard's journey through life was marked by unwavering dedication, hard work, and an abundance of love for those around him.
Howard was a cherished son of Mary and William Wrighter, welcomed into a family that instilled in him values of kindness and perseverance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnathan and Grace Wrighter, and his brother, Timothy Wrighter, whose memories he cherished throughout his life.
A devoted family man, Howard is survived by his six brothers—Johnny, Danny, Kenneth, Kerry, Cecil, and Jerry—and his three sisters, Darlene, Sharon, and Janice, who remained his lifelong confidants and companions. Howard's legacy lives on through his three daughters, Regina, Katina, and Brittney, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. Together with Gloria Royal, he raised a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Howard's heart brimmed with pride for his 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. His presence in their lives was a testament to his enduring love and unwavering support.
Howard built a modest but respected career in Hobbs as a dedicated mechanic, known for his dependability and hard work. His hands were those that repaired engines, but it was his heart that mended spirits and forged friendships. Colleagues and clients knew Howard as a man of integrity, always ready to lend a helping hand.
For over 40 years, Howard was a devoted member of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, where he became a pillar of the community. His presence was a source of comfort and strength, whether he was preparing fellowship meals, greeting families before Sunday service, or volunteering during local outreach events. Howard believed in serving others with humility and kindness, a testament to his generous spirit.
Outside of work and church, Howard found joy in simple pleasures. He spent countless hours fishing, tending to his backyard grill on weekends, and immersing himself in the soulful melodies of gospel and soul records. Friends and family knew him as someone who loved dominos, lively cookouts, and heartfelt conversations on the porch, always donning his favorite fedora.
To honor and celebrate Howard's remarkable life, a service will be held on May 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Highland Baptist Church, located at 300 E Wolfcamp Dr, Hobbs, NM 88240. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Howard Willie Wrighter's legacy will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, wisdom, and kindness will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. May he rest in eternal peace.
