In Loving Memory of Howard Smith
September 18, 1955 - February 19, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Howard Smith, who was gently called home on February 19, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on September 18, 1955, in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan, Howard lived a life full of kindness, generosity, and dedication that touched the hearts of everyone he encountered.
Howard was the cherished son of the late Howard and Barbra Smith, who nurtured in him the virtues that he would carry throughout his life. He was predeceased by his dear sister, Marie R. Smith, and now joins his parents and sister in eternal rest.
A proud alumnus of Central Michigan University, Howard earned a degree in finance, setting the foundation for a remarkable career. For over 30 years, he worked with integrity and diligence as a budget analyst at Ford Motor Company, where his contributions were deeply valued and his presence cherished by colleagues and friends.
In 1983, Howard married the love of his life, Theresa A. Smith. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and warmth, raising two wonderful children, Logan and Joe E. Smith. Their marriage of 43 years was a testament to their enduring love and commitment to each other.
Howard's joy extended beyond his immediate family to his treasured grandchildren, Lillyann B. Pfund, Chandler J. Smith, and Barron H. Smith. His eyes would light up with pride and affection whenever he spoke of them. He found immense happiness in their company and cherished every moment spent with them.
Outside of his professional life, Howard found simple pleasures in leisure, especially enjoying his time by the pool. It was here that he found peace and relaxation, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Howard's gentle soul and generous spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His kindness was a beacon of light to those around him, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him. His family fondly remembers his loving nature, his ability to find joy in the little things, and his unwavering support and encouragement.
As we grieve the loss of Howard, we remember the special message he leaves behind: "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure." Indeed, Howard's memory is a treasure that will forever be held in the hearts of his family and friends.
Howard's life will be celebrated in a service to be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable man he was. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Howard's memory to a charity of your choice.
Howard Smith's journey on this earth may have ended, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace, wrapped in the love and memories of a life well-lived.
