Howard was the cherished son of the late Agnes and Howard Murray and grew up in a loving family environment alongside his siblings, the late James G. Murray and Elizabeth Glenn. Through the years, his family remained at the core of his heart and the foundation of his happiness.
Howard's academic journey began at Loyola Blakefield High School, where he graduated in 1963, and continued at Loyola University of Maryland, where he earned his degree in 1966. His commitment to service was demonstrated early on as he served as a U.S. Army reservist, reaching the rank of Sergeant before transitioning to civilian life.
A man of exceptional career achievements, Howard dedicated 18 years to the Baltimore Aircoil Company, Inc. in Jessup, Maryland, where he worked diligently as a Controller. His skill and proficiency led him to Amsted Industries, where he served as Treasurer for six years. Howard's professional journey culminated at Charter Consulting, where he held the esteemed positions of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer for three transformative years.
Howard's life was enriched by the love of two remarkable women. He was married to Carol Sharon Murray for 50 beautiful years until her passing, and then to Mary Murray for nine years. Together, they created a tapestry of love that embraced family and friendship.
Howard's legacy is carried on by his devoted daughters, Lisa (Dan) Thamert of Sharpsburg, GA, and Susan (Steve) Braverman of Sugar Grove, IL. He was the proud and doting grandfather to eight grandchildren: Ellie, David, John, Brionna, Collin, Evan, Addison, and James, who were the light of his life and the joy of his later years.
Beyond his professional achievements and family devotion, Howard was a man of many passions. A gifted athlete, he played baseball in high school and college and even enjoyed a stint in the minor leagues as a talented pitcher. He had a profound love for golf, a refined palate for fine wines and good whiskey, and an adventurous spirit that found joy in travel.
Howard was a friend to many, known for his gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering support. His warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him.
In keeping with Howard's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Howard's memory are encouraged to raise a glass of fine wine or good whiskey in remembrance of a life well-lived and a man dearly loved.
