Howard passed away peacefully in the comforting presence of his devoted wife, Mabel Eileen, and his cherished family at their home. His departure marks the end of an era, as we bid farewell to a truly remarkable man whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication.
Born on July 21, 1934, in the quaint town of Kingston, West Virginia, Howard was the beloved son of John and Grace Nelson. He grew up in a household brimming with love and laughter, alongside his siblings John, Paul, George, David, Jessie, Jennie, Flo, and Carol (Rene), all of whom have preceded him in passing. Howard's early years were marked by the nurturing warmth of family bonds that he cherished throughout his life.
In 1956, Howard embarked on a lifelong journey of partnership and love when he married the love of his life, Mabel Eileen Gaddis, in a heartfelt ceremony in Greenup, Kentucky. Their marriage, which spanned nearly seventy joyful years, was a beacon of commitment and unity. Together, they built a family that became the cornerstone of Howard's existence.
Howard was a devoted father to his children: Randy (Debbie), Pete (Pam), Rocky (Chris), Troy, Mark (Donna), Pam Smith (Les), and Stephanie Coomer (Tim). His legacy is further carried on by his 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom adored their "Paw-Paw" and will carry forward the values he instilled in them.
Throughout his life, Howard exemplified hard work and dedication. His career was not only a means of providing for his family but also a testament to his unwavering commitment to integrity and perseverance.
