Hortensia departed this world as she lived her life—peacefully and surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion. Born on July 24, 1942, in the vibrant heart of Manhattan, New York, Hortensia was a beacon of light to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She grew up amidst the rich cultural tapestry of the city, a backdrop that inspired her lifelong commitment to her family and community. Hortensia was joyfully reunited in the afterlife with her beloved husband, Francisco Romero, whom she cherished dearly during their many years together. Their love story was one of mutual respect, laughter, and shared dreams. A devoted and nurturing matriarch, Hortensia is survived by her four adoring children: Mario Romero, Frank Romero, Valentino Romero, and Nancy Romero. Her family was her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to their happiness and success. Hortensia's legacy continues to flourish through her 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward her spirit of generosity and warmth. Hortensia was not only a guiding force within her family but also a respected entrepreneur. She proudly owned and operated Valentino Driving School, a cornerstone of the Bronx community. Through her diligent work and unwavering dedication, she empowered countless individuals to achieve independence and confidence on the road. Her commitment to her students was unparalleled, and her impact will be felt for generations to come. Hortensia's life will be celebrated on June 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Lucia Brothers Funeral Home, located at 569 East 184th, Bronx, NY, 10458. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are warmly invited to honor her memory and celebrate the remarkable life she lived. While our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we are comforted by the knowledge that Hortensia's love and wisdom will continue to guide us.
