Born on August 18, 1941, in El Paso, Texas, Horace was a cherished and steadfast presence in the lives of his family, friends, and community. Horace was the beloved son of the late Harry and Viola Owens. He was predeceased by his brother, Daryl Owens, and is survived by his devoted family members: his children, Tonya Dumas, Marlon Owens, Laneya Owens, and Carly Hoover, his brother, Kenneth Owens, sister, Sharyn Jones, six cherished grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life. A man of many talents and passions, Horace was a Master Electrician and a 3rd degree black belt in both Kenpo and Tai Chi. His career spanned an impressive 45 years, during which he worked tirelessly as an electrician. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate a custom van shop, a karate dojo, a ladies' clothing store, multiple Nutrisystem weight loss centers, and he dedicated the last 30 years of his life to the oil field industry. All his ventures bore the mark of his hard work, integrity, and relentless dedication. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Horace was a man of deep faith. He found solace and community in his church, the East Side Church of Christ, where he was not only a congregant but an active participant and supporter. His love for his church family was as profound as his love for his own family, and he was known for his generosity and willingness to help others in any way he could. Horace's sense of humor was legendary, bringing laughter and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to the enduring power of kindness and the importance of living with purpose and authenticity.
