H.J. Reed, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 20, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on September 27, 1956, in Alva, Oklahoma, H.J.'s life was a testament to dedication, love, and unwavering commitment to family and community. H.J. was the cherished son of the late Hugh J. (Sadie) and Margaret Ruth (Midge) Reed, whose love and guidance shaped the remarkable man he became. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jody D. McFarland, and his precious granddaughter, Collins Anne Patton. A proud graduate of Oklahoma State University, H.J. earned his degree in General Administration in 1978. His professional journey reflected his steadfast dedication and integrity, as he devoted 44 years to the oil industry, working with Phillips Petroleum, ConocoPhillips, and Phillips 66. H.J.'s colleagues and friends knew him as a man of principle and a source of wisdom and humor. On October 2, 1983, H.J. married his best friend and soulmate, Gail, in a beautiful ceremony in Bucklin, Kansas. Their union of over four decades was a beacon of love and partnership, standing as an example of unyielding support and shared dreams. H.J. was a devoted father to his daughters, Chelsea (married to Cameron Patton) and Melissa Reed, who were the light of his life. His legacy of kindness and perseverance lives on through them, as well as his three treasured grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. He is survived by his wife, Gail, and their loving family, including his sister Cheryl (married to Stewart Arthurs) and brother Mike (married to Patty Miller). H.J.'s family and friends will forever remember him for his warm smile, his gentle spirit, and his ability to make everyone feel cherished. H.J.'s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who knew and loved him.
