With heavy hearts and fond memories, we announce the passing of Hilton "Bobby" Burden on May 8, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born on May 4, 1960, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Bobby's journey on this earth ended after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion. Bobby was the cherished son of the late Eugene Burden and Mary Linda Turner. He was predeceased by his beloved brothers, Doug and Tony Burden, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms into eternity. Though we mourn his absence, Bobby's spirit continues to shine brightly through those he loved and who loved him in return. For 32 wonderful years, Bobby shared his life with his devoted wife, Barbara Vandruff Burden. Married on April 12, 1994, in Owensboro, their union was a testament to true partnership and unconditional love. Together, they found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly their shared passion for animals. Bobby and Barbara dedicated themselves not only to each other but also to the care and welfare of countless animals, weaving a rich tapestry of compassion throughout their marriage. They were truly each other's world. Bobby's family extends to his cherished stepdaughter, Heather McCoy, and her husband Chris, along with his adored granddaughter, Lauren Mitchell. His love for his family was boundless and unwavering, and his joyous spirit will live on in their hearts. A master of his craft, Bobby spent 50 years as a commercial painter. He began his career with Jim Haynes Painting, eventually transforming it into a successful venture of his own. His dedication to his work was evident, but it was his vibrant personality and unwavering work ethic that left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. Bobby was more than just a skilled tradesman; he was a man of deep convictions and kindness. A committed advocate for animal welfare, he was an active member of the ASPCA, PETA, and numerous animal rescue organizations. His home was a sanctuary not only for his beloved cats, Katie and Molly, but for countless animals he rescued and nurtured back to health over the years. His love for life extended beyond his work and advocacy. Bobby found solace in nature, often fossil hunting by the lake, where he felt a deep connection to the world around him. Known for his quirky and mischievous humor, Bobby brightened the lives of those around him with his infectious smile and genuine happiness. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, embodying a selflessness that knew no bounds. As we bid farewell to Bobby, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and a profound dedication to others. His memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew him, serving as a reminder of the power of kindness and the beauty of a life well-lived. A private ceremony will be held in honor of Bobby's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to local animal rescue organizations, continuing Bobby's legacy of compassion for all living beings. Hilton "Bobby" Burden, your spirit remains with us, a guiding light of love and laughter. You will be deeply missed, yet never forgotten.
