May 10, 1959 — February 24, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Herschel Cox, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on February 24, 2026, at the age of 66. Herschel passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 10, 1959, in Clinton, Tennessee, Herschel was the cherished son of the late Herschel and Betty Faye Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents and his dear sister, Elizabeth, who all undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms as he entered eternal rest. Herschel's early years in Clinton were marked by a strong sense of community and family. He graduated from Clinton Tennessee High School in 1977, setting the stage for a life characterized by dedication and service. Shortly after graduation, Herschel answered the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Army, where he served honorably from 1977 to 1981. His commitment to his country continued with his service in the Army National Guard. After his military service, Herschel devoted approximately 20 years to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in 29 Palms, where he worked as a valued member of the EST. His colleagues remember him as a man of integrity, whose work ethic and dependability set a standard for all. Herschel's personal life was enriched by his marriage to his beloved wife, Adrienne, on June 26, 2010. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, filled with shared laughter, adventures, and unwavering support for one another through life's journey. Away from work, Herschel found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman, finding solace and excitement in the tranquility of the water. His enthusiasm for sports was evident as he eagerly awaited football season each year, cheering passionately for both his Tennessee Volunteers and Tennessee Titans. Herschel's spirit of enthusiasm and joy was infectious, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to share these moments with him. Herschel's legacy is carried on by his loving family, who were the center of his world. He leaves behind six treasured grandchildren and one precious great-grandchild, each of whom were the light of his life. Herschel's love for his family was boundless, and his presence in their lives will be deeply missed but forever cherished. We invite all who knew and loved Herschel to join us in celebrating his remarkable life. A memorial service will be held to honor his memory, where stories will be shared, laughter will echo, and the love he embodied will be remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Herschel's name to a cancer research organization of your choice, as a tribute to his courageous fight and desire to help others facing the same battle. Herschel Cox will be remembered as a man of strength, warmth, and unwavering kindness. His legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know him. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts.
