Hermer Miranda
April 29, 1966 — April 25, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hermer Miranda, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, who left this world unexpectedly on April 25, 2026, just days shy of his 60th birthday. Born on April 29, 1966, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Hermer was a beacon of kindness, selflessness, and dedication throughout his life.
Hermer's journey began in the loving home of his mother, Eroilda Nolasco, who survives him. He shared a deep bond with his mother, and their relationship was a cornerstone of his life. Hermer is also remembered by his devoted sisters, Lynda and her husband Ralph, Norma and her husband Michael, Carmen, and Dinora and her husband Miguel. His nieces, Tatiana, Jasmine, Jannette, Michela, Amanda, Gabriela, and his nephew Michael were the delight of his life, each holding a special place in his heart. Preceding him in death was his brother-in-law, Gregory Bury, whose memory Hermer cherished dearly.
Hermer's educational journey saw him graduate from Montclair High School in 1984, a proud milestone that marked the beginning of a life dedicated to service. Immediately after high school, Hermer answered the call of duty and served in the United States Air Force from 1984 to 1988, with his last station being in Utah. His time in the Air Force exemplified his unwavering commitment to protecting his country and its values.
After his honorable military service, Hermer continued to serve his community as a Montclair State Police officer, eventually attaining the rank of Sergeant. Known for his integrity and compassion, Hermer was a stalwart presence in the community, often choosing to work holiday shifts so his colleagues could spend those precious moments with their families. His altruism was encapsulated in his own words: "I'm single so I don't mind working so those with families can enjoy the holidays with their kids. Their kids are only small once."
Hermer's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was an ardent lover of the outdoors, reveling in the beauty of nature, particularly when hiking with friends. A lifelong comic book collector, Hermer's collection was a testament to his enduring enthusiasm for the stories and heroes that captivated him since childhood. His childhood friend Matt was a constant companion throughout his life, sharing in many of these adventures.
Hermer's legacy is one of generosity, love, and unwavering dedication to those around him. His warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone he met, and his absence is profoundly felt by his extended family, many aunts, cousins, and all who knew him.
A memorial service to honor Hermer's remarkable life will be held on May 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Details regarding the service location will be provided to family and friends in due course. As we gather to remember Hermer, let us celebrate the love and joy he brought into our lives, knowing that he will forever remain in our hearts.
