In Loving Memory of Herman Johnson
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Herman Johnson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on February 8, 2026, at the age of 61, following a courageous battle with cancer. Herman took his last breath enveloped in the love and comfort of his home in the presence of his cherished family.
Herman was born on January 25, 1965, in Oakland, California, to the late Nolan and Dorothy Johnson. From an early age, he exhibited a gentle spirit and a zest for life that would define his journey. Herman was predeceased by his esteemed parents and his sister, Debra Johnson. His legacy of kindness and strength continues through his surviving family, including his devoted wife, Scarlett Johnson, his loving children, son Willie Christopher and daughter Tosha Moore, his adoring grandchildren, Darcel Smith and Kenya Moore, as well as his siblings, sister Sheila Johnson and brother Wayne Johnson. Herman's life was a tapestry woven with love and laughter, shared with family and close friends who were akin to family in his heart.
On February 9, 2005, Herman married the love of his life, Scarlett Johnson, and together they nurtured a loving family, raising six stepchildren while residing in the vibrant California Bay Area. Herman was a devoted family man, whose love knew no bounds and whose presence was a constant source of warmth and joy.
Herman dedicated many years of his life to a career as a security guard, serving various locations throughout the Bay Area until he retired on June 1, 2023. In his professional life, as in his personal life, Herman was known for his unwavering integrity, reliability, and his ever-present smile that could brighten even the darkest of days.
Outside of work, Herman found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid outdoorsman, who found peace in walking, fishing, and riding his bike through the serene parks of the Bay Area. Above all, he cherished the moments spent sitting with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and love.
Herman was a man of remarkable character, embodying kindness, generosity, and an unwavering willingness to help those in need. He was non-confrontational, yet strong and prideful, always standing on his own and offering a helping hand to others. His spirit was a beacon of light, providing comfort and support to those around him.
In honoring Herman's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held, where his family will gather to celebrate his life and the indelible mark he left on their hearts.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared in Herman's journey and offered support during these difficult times. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Herman’s memory to a charity supporting cancer research or to a cause close to one's heart.
Herman Johnson's memory will forever remain a cherished part of our lives. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace, wrapped in the love he so generously shared with the world.
