With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Herman Johnson, who departed this world on March 30, 2026, at the age of 41. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 30, 1984, Herman was a beloved son to Glenda and Paul Johnson. His journey through life was marked by boundless love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit that touched all who had the privilege of crossing his path.
A proud graduate of Shaw High School in 2002, Herman embarked on a long and dedicated career with Ford Motors Company in Eustis, Florida. For 35 years, he poured his heart into his work as a mechanic, showcasing not only his technical skills but also his unparalleled work ethic and commitment. Herman retired in 2023, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and camaraderie among his colleagues.
Herman’s life was enriched by his deep connections with family and friends. As a loving partner, he shared his life with Aris Jackson while raising Joshua, and later with Alicia Thompson, with whom he raised Amir Johnson. His two sons, Joshua Jackson and Amir Johnson, were his pride and joy, and though he faced the unspeakable sorrow of their passing, he held their memories close to his heart. Herman also mourned the loss of his brother Steve Johnson, sister Marie Johnson, and grandsons Zamir Jackson and Xavier Johnson, whose spirits he cherished and whose memories he honored every day.
Beyond his career and family, Herman was a man of many passions. He found joy on the basketball court, where his competitive nature shone brightly. He delighted in cooking, especially for his family, turning every meal into a celebration. Vacations and family time were sacred to him, moments that he treasured deeply. With a playlist featuring his favorite artists, Tupac and Biggie, Herman filled his life with music that resonated with his soul.
Known for his unique and infectious smile, Herman had a way of lighting up any room he entered. His ability to make others laugh was legendary, and his role as a jokester brought joy to countless lives. Herman was not only competitive but also a source of encouragement, always uplifting those around him to strive for their best.
In this time of sorrow, the Johnson family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Advent Health Waterman Hospital. Your compassion, expertise, and unwavering dedication made an immeasurable difference during a challenging time, and we are forever grateful for your care and support.
