In loving memory of Herman DeHart Sr., who passed away peacefully on July 8, 1960, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on August 18, 1896, in Houma, Louisiana, Herman lived a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication. Herman was a lifelong shrimper and trapper, a profession that kept him close to the waters he cherished. His love for fishing was renowned among family and friends, and he found great joy in casting a line and sharing stories by the water's edge. Herman's humor and ever-present smile were a testament to his vibrant spirit and kind nature, qualities that brought warmth and joy to all who knew him. For 47 years, Herman was the beloved husband of Maggie Lorena Lovell DeHart, with whom he shared a dedicated and loving partnership. Together, they nurtured a large and loving family, including their sons Willis, Wilber Sr., Raymond, Irvin, Desire, and Herman Jr. DeHart, and daughters Adeline DeHart DeHart, Merline DeHart Scott, Verlin DeHart Authement, and Eveline DeHart Domangue. His legacy continues through his 67 grandchildren and 129 great-grandchildren, survived by his brothers Winfield, Sanders, and Davis DeHart, and his sister Delia DeHart Daisy, who will continue to honor his memory. all of whom carry forward his spirit and love of family. Herman was a cherished member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, where he found community and fellowship. His faith was an integral part of his life, providing him with strength and guidance throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his son Freeman, his brothers Wynant, Charles DeHart, his sister Cornelia DeHart Adams, and his parents William Willis DeHart and Mary Elizabeth Funguy DeHart. May Herman DeHart Sr. rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
