July 3, 1972 — April 2, 2026

It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Herman Chaparro, a cherished husband, devoted son, beloved brother, and steadfast friend. Herman's journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on April 2, 2026, in the comfort of his Bronx home, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 3, 1972, in the vibrant heart of the Bronx, Herman remained a proud resident of his birthplace throughout his life. Herman was a man of unwavering resilience and courage, attributes he demonstrated in his brave battle with illness. He lived his life with integrity and humor, qualities that endeared him to everyone he met. A graduate of Alfred E. Smith High School in 1990, Herman furthered his education at Hostos Community College, where he received an Associate’s Degree in 1992. For 33 years, Herman dedicated his professional life to Lincoln Medical Center, where he was more than just a member of the housekeeping team; he was a mentor, a leader, and a source of inspiration to his colleagues. His commitment to his work and his colleagues was a testament to his character, earning him respect and admiration from everyone he encountered. Herman was an avid baseball fan with a particular affection for the New York Yankees. He never missed opening day at Yankee Stadium, where he could be found cheering passionately from the stands. His love for the ocean drew him often to Orchard Beach, where he relished the simple joy of basking in the sun. Herman was blessed with a quick wit and an infectious sense of humor, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. These qualities made him a cherished companion, always leaving those around him with smiles on their faces and warmth in their hearts. Herman's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 25 years, Claritza Chaparro of Loisa, Puerto Rico, who was his steadfast partner in life and love. He is also survived by his loving parents, Ilsia and Herman Chaparro Sr., and his brother Oscar Chaparro, all of whom predeceased him, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. Though Herman's life was cut short, his impact on those who knew him was profound and lasting. His family wishes to celebrate his life in a private funeral ceremony. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Evangelical Christian Church, 892 Union Avenue, Bronx, NY 10455. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in St. Raymond's Cemetery. In honoring Herman's memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice, echoing Herman's spirit of generosity and kindness. As we bid farewell to Herman, we take solace in the words that encapsulate his life: “He fought a good fight, he kept the faith, he won the race!” Herman's life was a testament to love, resilience, and humor, and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
