Born on February 27, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida, Herb, as he was affectionately known, spent his life enriching the lives of those around him with his warm spirit and unwavering kindness. Herb was the cherished son of Joan and Herbert Jones, from whom he inherited a deep sense of integrity and compassion. His early years were spent in the vibrant embrace of Jacksonville, where he forged lifelong friendships and developed a passion for community service and mentorship. Herb faced and conquered many challenges throughout his life. He bravely battled heart problems with a resilience and dignity that inspired everyone who knew him. Even in the face of adversity, his sense of humor and positive outlook never wavered—a testament to his formidable character. Those who knew Herb will remember his hearty laugh, his love for storytelling, and his remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and understood. He was a pillar of strength and support for his family and friends, always putting the needs of others before his own. Herb is preceded in death by his loving parents, Joan and Herbert Jones; his dear sister, Linda Jones; his brother, Vincent Panell; and his beloved sons, Herbie and Cameron Jones. Though the loss is immeasurable, the love he shared with them is a guiding light that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those left behind. A celebration of Herb’s life will take place on May 3, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Garland Church, located at 6045 Greenland Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32258. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in honor of a remarkable man whose life was a testament to the power of love and community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Herb’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and lifelong dedication to helping others.
