Herbert Lewis Sr

Herbert Lewis, born on October 31, 1942, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, peacefully departed this world at his home on August 3, 2026. Herbert was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a beacon of kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Raised in a loving home by his parents, Cynthia Carpenter and David Lewis, Herbert was instilled with values of compassion and generosity from a young age. He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved brother, Jimmy Lewis, but his legacy continues through his surviving family: his devoted wife of 38 years, Peaches, and their five children, Herbert Jr., Julius, Stephan, Janis, and Tracie. His family was his pride and joy, and he delighted in the company of his seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with his love and wisdom. Herbert dedicated 42 years of his life to working at the steel mill, where his work ethic and dedication were as unwavering as his commitment to his family. He was a steadfast friend, a loving brother, a nurturing father, and a devoted husband. His life was a testament to living fully and giving selflessly, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. For 28 years, Herbert was an active member of the Greater Brighter Star Missionary Baptist Church, where his faith and community involvement touched many lives. Herbert's hobbies included cherished moments spent with his grandchildren and afternoons at the shooting range, where he found joy and relaxation. His laughter was infectious, and his smile could brighten the darkest of days. A celebration of Herbert's life will be held on August 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the City of God Church, located at 857 Sandhill Ave, Carson, CA.
