He was predeceased by his loving parents, sisters Bernice (Woods) Albert, and his beloved wives, Sophia Douglas Woods, Virginia Woods, and Bessie Woods, as well as his stepson Brian Douglas.
Henry's life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and love. He was educated at Cooper Elementary in Lamont, Mississippi, and went on to further his skills at a trade school where he specialized in mechanics. His patriotism led him to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Private First Class.
After his military service, Henry embarked on a successful career as a Mechanical Engineer at Joe McCarty Oldsmobile in Peoria, Illinois. His entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as he later established his own business, becoming a respected transmission specialist in the community.
Faith was a cornerstone of Henry's life. He received Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Lamont, Mississippi. Upon relocating to Peoria, he continued his spiritual journey at New Morning Star Church under the guidance of Rev. Cleveland Thomas. Known for his unwavering commitment, he faithfully served as an usher and was a valued member of the United Usher Board. His passion for life extended beyond the church, as he was also a proud member of the Amotic Motorcycle Club.
Henry's hobbies were a reflection of his vibrant spirit and love for his family. He found joy in fishing, watching cowboy movies, and spending cherished moments with family and friends. His warmth and humor made every gathering special, leaving lasting memories for all who knew him.
He is survived by his dear siblings, Atlee Winters of Detroit, Michigan, and Ellen Washington of Peoria, Illinois, along with his six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
