February 19, 1945 — October 9, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henry J. Rudewicz, a cherished husband, father, and friend, who departed this life on October 9, 2026, after a courageous three-year battle with melanoma. Born on February 19, 1945, in Ivoryton, Connecticut, Henry lived a life rich in adventure, dedication, and love. Henry was the son of the late Henry K. Rudewicz and Millicent Palm, and was predeceased by his sister, Dale. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 60 years, Carol Stalsburg, and his son, Damon A. Rudewicz, who will forever hold his memory close. A proud graduate of the Valley Regional High School Class of 1963, Henry was awarded All-American honors as a standout athlete in soccer, basketball, and track. He served his country with honor for six years in the United States Air Force, spending three of those years stationed in Japan with his beloved Carol by his side. Henry spent his career as a Technical Engineer for GBC, traveling the world to train others on a wide range of equipment. Beyond his technical expertise, colleagues warmly remember his willingness to lend a helping hand and his infectious sense of humor. A man of many talents, Henry was an avid fisherman, hunter, boater, golfer, and gardener, as well as a skilled craftsman who could master any mechanical repair or building project. He was a natural entertainer who captivated every room with his quick wit and detailed jokes, and whenever there was music, he was invariably one of the best dancers on the floor. Henry was also an active part of his local community. Over the years, he coached youth Little League and soccer, served as Past Exalted Ruler of the Westbrook Elks Lodge, and was a member of both the Clinton Country Club and the Fin Fur and Feather Club. A private gathering will be held to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Henry’s memory to the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven, CT, honoring his lifelong commitment to his fellow veterans. Henry J. Rudewicz will be remembered for his warmth, his laughter, and the generosity he extended to everyone around him. His legacy will endure in the stories shared and the memories cherished by all who loved him.
