Helen T. White

On June 16, 2026, the world lost a truly remarkable soul, as Helen White departed this life to join her beloved husband, Curtis T. Matthews, in eternal rest. Helen was born on March 11, 1947, in Augusta, Georgia, to proud parents John and Mary Anne White. Her life was a testament to love, service, and devotion, qualities that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Helen was the cherished sister of her predeceased siblings, John White Jr., Sary Mae White, and Patricia Ann White. Her legacy of love and kindness lives on through her surviving children, Lucy M. Smith and Larry T. Smith, as well as her 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who were the joy and light of her life. For 23 years, Helen shared a beautiful bond with her husband, Curtis, until he was called to heaven. Now, they are reunited, watching over their family from above. Helen was a devoted member of the Beulah Grove Baptist Church, where she served with unwavering faith and dedication. Her gentle smile and welcoming presence were a blessing to all who entered the church, first as an usher for a decade and then as a Sunday Service Greeter for nine years. Her love for her family extended beyond her immediate household, as she embraced her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother with enthusiasm and warmth. Known for her nurturing spirit, Helen was truly the heart of her family, and her memory will be treasured by those who had the privilege to know her. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Helen's life and legacy on June 17, 2026, at 3:00 PM, at Beulah Grove Baptist Church, located at 1434 Popular Street, Augusta, GA 30902. The service will also be available via livestream at beulahgrove.org for those unable to attend in person. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Helen's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, a cause that was dear to her heart. Helen White was a pillar of strength and love in her community and her family. Her gentle, caring nature touched the lives of many, and while we mourn her departure, we celebrate the profound impact she had on all of us. Her spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
