Helen Wallace Morris

August 24, 1927 — April 21, 2026

In the gentle embrace of a spring morning, surrounded by the love of her family, Helen Wallace Morris bid farewell to this world on April 21, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on August 24, 1927, in Stewart County, Tennessee, Helen was the cherished daughter of Whit “Buddy” Wallace, Sr. and Mertie Dennis Wallace. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and the enduring bonds of family. Helen’s journey began in a humble home filled with the laughter and love of her siblings, Mervin Wallace, Whit “Buddy” Wallace, Jr., Ophie Kingins, Sara Harris, Neva Earhart, Verble Castile, and Thelma Ezell. Together, they formed a tapestry of memories that would last a lifetime. Helen’s connection with her sisters was particularly special; their shared moments of singing, storytelling, and laughter are fondly remembered and cherished by all who knew them. On October 8, 1949, Helen married the love of her life, Lacy Ethell Morris, embarking on a beautiful journey of companionship and devotion that spanned over 76 years. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and hard work. Helen was a dedicated homemaker, whose hands not only nurtured her family but also tended to the family farm, ensuring it thrived under her gentle care. Helen and Lacy were blessed with a daughter, Wilda Ann Hampton, who was the apple of their eye. Helen’s legacy of love extended to her grandsons, Joey Hampton (Sarah) and Jeff Hampton, who were her pride and joy. Her heart was further filled with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Anna Grace Hampton and Will Hampton, who brought her endless delight and happiness. A faithful member of Joiner’s Chapel Church of Christ for many years, Helen’s unwavering faith and love for the Lord were guiding lights in her life. Her dedication to her church community was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Helen possessed an innate love for nature, finding solace and beauty in her garden, which flourished under her tender touch. Her roses, irises, and peonies were not just flowers, but vibrant reflections of her spirit and love for life. Preceded in death by her parents, her beloved brothers and sisters, and her son-in-law, Billy Hampton, Helen’s journey now continues in the hearts and memories of those she leaves behind. Her devoted husband, Lacy, remains to cherish the love and life they shared, along with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and faith. Helen Wallace Morris was a beacon of warmth and kindness, a woman whose life was a testament to the power of love and family. Her memory will forever be cherished, and she will be dearly missed by all who were touched by her grace and generosity. As we bid her a heartfelt farewell, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to watch over us, as vibrant and beautiful as the flowers she so lovingly tended.
