Helen was married to her dear husband, Marshall Smith, in 1971, also in Ventura. Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership, spanning 23 wonderful years until Marshall's passing. Together, they raised two sons, Michael and James, instilling in them the values of kindness and resilience. Though Helen endured the heart-wrenching loss of her oldest son, Michael, she remained a pillar of strength for her family, particularly for her son James, and her cherished grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Olivia. An exceptional homemaker and creative spirit, Helen was known for her homemade apple sauce, a family favorite that brought warmth to every gathering. Her nimble fingers crafted countless knitted blankets and clothes, each piece a testament to her love and care. Helen's personality was as vibrant as her creations. Her great sense of humor was infectious, and she had an uncanny ability to uplift those around her. Friends and family often sought her out for her wonderful advice and comforting presence, knowing they would leave her company with a smile and a lighter heart. A funeral service to celebrate Helen's life will be held on August 14, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Service, located at 757 E Main St, Ventura, CA 93001. All are welcome to join in remembering Helen and the joy she brought into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Helen's generous spirit and her lifelong commitment to helping others.
