Born on March 24, 1946, in Eutawville, South Carolina, Helen graced the lives of all who knew her with warmth, wisdom, and an enduring spirit. Helen was the cherished daughter of Julianna and Samuel Simmons, and she was predeceased by her parents, her older brother Nehemiah, her middle sister Marie, and her baby brother Danny. Her legacy of love is carried on by her surviving sister, Pearl Bryant, her devoted children Stanley, Lisa, and Donald, her ten adored grandchildren—Tytiana, Jaylaan, Tyesha, Tasheima, Tiffany, Quinton, Stanton, Brianna, Alexis, and Tiana Torrin—and fourteen precious great-grandchildren, who will grow up hearing stories of their remarkable great-grandmother. For 39 years, Helen dedicated her life to the noble profession of teaching, where she was more than just an educator; she was a guiding light for countless young minds. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, as she encouraged her students to believe in themselves and to strive to be the best they could be. Helen's classroom was a sanctuary of learning and love, where lessons of life and kindness were imparted alongside academic ones. Her legacy in education will continue to flourish through those she inspired and mentored. Affectionately known as "Viper," Helen was celebrated not only for her role as an educator but also for her unparalleled culinary skills and nurturing spirit. Her kitchen was a haven of comfort and love, where delicious meals brought everyone together. Helen's cooking was an expression of her love, a way of caring for her family and friends, ensuring that no one ever left her home hungry. When illness struck, Helen's special remedies were a testament to her nurturing nature. Her love and care were felt in every concoction she prepared to help those she loved feel better. These small acts of kindness, along with the cherished memories of shared meals and laughter, will linger in the hearts of those she leaves behind. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Helen Simmons Bennett will be held on August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Simmons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Helen's memory to a charity of choice, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others.
