Helen Salmon
January 20, 1938 — February 28, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Helen Salmon, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend. Helen peacefully departed this world on February 28, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. She was born on January 20, 1938, in the close-knit community of Ripley, Tennessee, to the late A.W. and Carol Thornton.
Helen lived a life deeply rooted in love, devotion, and kindness. As a dedicated housewife, she poured her heart into creating a nurturing home filled with warmth and the sweet aroma of home-cooked meals. Her culinary talents were renowned among friends and family, and her kitchen was often the heart of many joyful gatherings. Helen's hands, skilled in the art of quilting, created vibrant tapestries that will forever tell stories of her creativity and patience. Each quilt was a testament to her meticulous care, a legacy of love stitched into every pattern.
Her beloved husband, Ted Salmon, preceded her in death, as did her son, Steven Scott Salmon; her parents, A.W. and Carol Thornton; her brother, Robbie Thornton; and her sisters, Martha Rose and Mary Alice Simpson. Despite these profound losses, Helen's spirit remained resilient, her heart sustained by the cherished memories of those she loved.
Helen is survived by her devoted son, Mike Salmon, who was her pride and joy. Helen's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her gentle spirit and unwavering love have left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.
Family and friends are invited to honor Helen's memory at a Graveside service to be held on March 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Ripley Memorial Gardens, located at 2632 S Washington St, Ripley, TN 38063. As we gather to celebrate her life, may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Helen's name to the Lauderdale County Animal Shelter, reflecting her compassion and love for all of God's creatures.
