Helen Luciel Humbarger
December 7, 1948 — September 26, 2026
Helen Luciel Humbarger, a deeply cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026. Born on December 7, 1948, Helen was the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Ruth Ann Berndt. Her life was a testament to the love and laughter she shared with those around her.
Helen was blessed with a warm and generous spirit, which she shared with her husband, Michael Humbarger, whom she married in September 2005. Together, they built a life filled with love and companionship. Helen’s heart was further filled with joy through her daughter, Belinda Lockwitz, her daughter-in-law Maris and her adored grandchildren, Chris Snyder and Holly Lockwitz, who were the light of her life.
Helen’s life was touched by both joy and sorrow, having been predeceased by her parents and her son, Marvin Dickey, whom she held dear in her heart every day. Yet, she found comfort and happiness in the close-knit community of friends at the River Valley Senior Center. There, she was known for her love of Bingo and Wii Bowling, activities that brought her endless joy and camaraderie.
A lover of animals, Helen shared a special bond with her cherished pet, Shaggy. Her compassion extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a beloved member of her community, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word.
Helen's family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the River Valley Senior Center staff, Liberty Dialysis Center in Niles, Private Duty Transportation, and the many others who provided care and support throughout her life.
